Bowie Dick Test

    Preassembled, single-use test packs designed to evaluate the performance of the air removal system of a pre-vacuum equipped sterilizer. They’re calibrated to be compatible with pre-vacuum cycles operating at specific exposure temperatures or within a specified exposure temperature range.

      How the Bowie Dick Test Pack Works

      The Bowie Dick (Air removal) Test verifies that the prevacuum sterilizer effectively removes air and is equivalent to the AAMI Bowie Dick Test, removing the need for test packs to be constructed by staff. The test pack is placed directly into an otherwise empty autoclave chamber and does not require a retaining device. During the test cycle, steam must displace the air through the barrier material within the Bowie Dick Test Pack. A uniform change from yellow to blue/purple on the indicator sheet indicates that all the air was removed and replaced by steam.
