The laptop donation on April 16 at SJC (C) Subang Jaya was part of our CSR initiative. We started the CSR project in early of 2021 to purchase and collect good condition’s refurbished laptop, and to invite our SME Partner to be part of this CSR project.
Since remote learning has become a new normal for students as most schools are now closed due to COVID-19, we have started this CSR project to provide refurbished laptops to students from low-income families to aid in their online learning journey at home.
A total of 20 laptops were donated to the school, in which 10 laptops from us, and another 10 laptops from our SME Partners. These laptops will be provided to the students from low-income families to reduce their burdens during the current pandemic. Also, these students are the most affected when online classes are implemented and are at risk of failing behind as they do not own a computer at home.
According to the school principal Ms.Chew, the issue arises when most of the student’s family has only 2 computers at home, and it is not sufficient for every family member to share the 2 computers at the same time, thus some students are unable to attend every online classes. Also, currently the used laptop market is facing a huge shortage due to the new normal, even the working adults are getting used laptop to adapt to the new norm of remote working (WFH).
Last, we have always believed in giving back to the community and helping those who are in need as much as possible. We also hope that by initiating this CSR project able to set an example for other companies to do the same, to enable more students to study online.
